RU-486, also known as Mifepristone is an oral medication used in combination with Misoprostol to terminate an early pregnancy in women. It is prescribed to women who are in their first trimester pregnancy or no more than 63 days pregnant. It is an anti progestational steroid that works by blocking the effects of progesterone, thereby softening the cervix and causing uterine contractions.
